Behrend softball team enters AMCC tournament ranked No. 1

Penn State Behrend’s athletics teams have resumed intercollegiate and exhibition play, with increased COVID-19 testing of student-athletes and restrictions on attendance at all home events. The college’s teams are abiding by all NCAA guidelines regarding the safe conduct of sports during the pandemic.

The Penn State Behrend softball team earned the No. 1 seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament with a sweep of Mt. Aloysius. The team, which is 14-2 in conference play, will face the winner of the AMCC play-in game on May 9.

The Lions scored seven runs in the second inning of the opener against Medaille. Isaac Stouffer, a sophomore from Punxsutawney, and Tanner Cicchini, a senior from Pittsburgh, started the rally with back-to-back triples.

Mackenzie McIntire, a senior from Stoneboro, earned her 100th RBI in the opener against Mt. Aloysius. She also hit her 47th career double.
