UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Though summer is right around the corner, it’s not too late for students to make Penn State part of their summer plans. Summer provides an opportunity for students who are behind in their degree programs to catch up on needed courses.

“Summer is the perfect time for students to take courses that did not fit into their schedules during the regular academic year or to retake a course that did not go as planned,” said Kelly Griffith, director of the Office for Summer Session. “By catching up in summer, students can stay on track toward timely degree completion and keep the overall cost of their degree down. In other words, a few courses in summer are much more affordable in the long run than an extra semester or year of college.”

Griffith added, “Students who are already on track may wish to get ahead in their degree programs or make progress toward a minor or certificate. Either way, taking courses in summer can help students to hit the ground running in fall.”

This summer, students can choose from thousands of courses offered in a variety of delivery modes, including an expanded suite of in-person offerings, across 24 Penn State campuses. As in past summers, students from any Penn State campus have the option to take courses at any other campus, including Penn State World Campus.

Students can access the summer 2021 Schedule of Courses, with information about the instructional mode for each course, and register for courses, in LionPATH. Students can continue to add summer 2021 courses until the add deadline for the summer session in which a course is offered. The academic calendar for summer 2021, which includes the start/end dates and add/drop deadlines for each summer session, can be found at http://www.registrar.psu.edu/academic-calendars/.

The full academic calendar for summer 2021 is available on the Registrar’s website.
