YORK, Pa. — Play ball! Spring is in the air and so is the sound of those words and the crack of the bat hitting the baseball. Penn State York will take on Penn State Schuylkill in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 24, at 1 and 3:30 p.m. at PeoplesBank Park in downtown York, Pennsylvania.

Due to the pandemic, the York team has not played at the ballpark since 2019. All guests and participants will wear masks and practice social distancing protocols pertaining to COVID-19. The game is free and open to the public.

PeoplesBank Park is home to the York Revolution, a member of the Atlantic League of professional baseball.

“After a long layoff with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is great to be back, and given the opportunity to play in PeoplesBank Park, with a chance of playoffs being on the line, is a great opportunity for our team and a lasting opportunity for our two seniors,” said Ron Schaeffer, head baseball coach at Penn State York. “It is always exciting to play at a professional ballpark but to do it at one in our backyard is an experience that our Penn State York baseball team gets to do every year traditionally. Not only do we get to play at a professional field, but we get to represent Penn State York at a professional field!”

Penn State York has played in the ballpark since 2014, and an event that has become an annual tradition. The York campus offers six collegiate sports in addition to baseball:  men’s and women’s basketball, golf for men and women, soccer, women’s softball, and women’s volleyball.
