Cumming selected AMCC Baseball Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona senior first baseman Catcher Cumming (Altoona, Pennsylvania/Altoona) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s (AMCC) Player of the Week in baseball on Monday, April 5.

Cumming had a big day for the Lions in the team’s doubleheader sweep of AMCC opponent Medaille College on Saturday.

In game one, the senior first baseman went one-for-two with two runs batted in, two runs scored, and one double. In game two, Cumming was three-for-five with three home runs – including a grand slam – seven RBI, and three runs scored.

Cumming’s three home runs in the second game of the doubleheader set a new Penn State Altoona baseball single game record, representing the most homers hit in a game in program history.

On the week, Cumming hit .571 (four-for-seven) with nine RBI, five runs scored, three home runs, and one double. He posted a .556 on-base percentage, a 2.000 slugging percentage, and was perfect in the field with 15 putouts on 15 total chances.

Penn State Altoona baseball returns to action this Thursday, April 8, when the Lions will host nonconference opponent Wilson College for a doubleheader at Stewart Athletic Field starting at 1 p.m.
