UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Experiential Digital Global Engagement (EDGE) program is seeking a new faculty partner with Moscow State University (MSU). Penn State was recently awarded a U.S.-Russia Virtual University Partnerships (UniVIP) grant, administered through the American Councils for International Education. The grant will be used to establish an EDGE collaborative project (4-6 week task-based project) between an international business course at MSU and a selected undergraduate or graduate course at Penn State.
The primary outcome of this project will be the student and faculty learning that occurs in EDGE collaborations between students at Penn State and students at MSU. The quantitative outcomes of EDGE collaborative pairings include the numbers of EDGE collaborative projects and impacted students participating in each EDGE collaborative project.
"We hope that the successful implementation of the project will build a foundation for a broader collaboration with Penn State University, including research projects and faculty exchange,” said Daria Denisova, associate dean for international affairs in the School of Business at MSU. “As a starting point, the project can have a greater effect and enhance academic cooperation between MSU and Penn State."
An eligible Penn State faculty partner for the UniVIP grant activities must:

be without prior experience in implementing an EDGE collaborative project with an international partner;

have the desire to engage in collaborative, online, virtual exchange to enhance student learning and engagement;

participate in an interactive online COIL Elements Professional Development Workshop (June 7–25) conducted asynchronously with one-hour, weekly synchronous meetings and requiring two-four hours of work per week;

plan and develop an EDGE project with MSU faculty between June 2021 and August 2021;

implement an EDGE project with an MSU faculty member in Fall 2021 with support from Penn State EDGE program faculty; and
-
complete the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) assessment and participate in an individualized debriefing.
Faculty will be awarded an honorarium in addition to receiving support from the EDGE office in development and implementation of the project.
To apply, faculty must complete and submit the online grant application, as well as a course syllabus for proposed EDGE collaboration in Fall 2021 and a 45-90 second video describing how the proposed course could be enhanced by engaging in an EDGE collaborative project with an international business course at MSU.
Application materials are due by midnight on Friday, April 18. The recipient of the award will be notified by May 5.
