ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona visual art studies senior Emily Beam has had her piece “Flight” selected for inclusion in the Las Laguna Art Gallery’s "Sky’s the Limit" exhibition. It is an open theme/all media show featuring a variety of works from artists around the globe.

The piece will be featured on the Las Laguna website throughout the month of April. "I am excited to have my piece shown in the online exhibition,” said Beam. “It is awesome to see my work displayed with the work of other artists.”

“There is something very special about seeing VAST undergrads have their work selected for professional and competitive exhibitions while in their last semester at Penn State Altoona,” said Rebecca Strzelec, distinguished professor of visual arts. “As a professor, I get to be there when they experience their hard work and dedication reflected in the choices of galleries and curators. It’s magical.”

Beam intends to graduate from Penn State Altoona in May 2021 with a  bachelor of arts in visual art studies and a bachelor of science in biology. Her work is often figure-based and explores anatomy, emotion, and nature. It’s rooted in her fascination with anatomy and her desire to enter the medical field.

She will present her work in the Sheetz Gallery of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts April 22 through May 2. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
