UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students who are considering or approved for a change of campus can attend a series of events to learn more about each campus and the campus change process.

The change of campus experience, or 2+2, refers to the unique opportunities Penn State students have to take advantage of the educational, co-curricular, and social experiences available at each of the University's undergraduate campuses. While requests to change campus are typically considered in the second semester of a student's second year, considering all the factors that should inform a student's decision to make a campus change is the focus of the Link Penn State series. Undergraduate students from any Penn State campus are eligible to participate.

Link Penn State will feature virtual events for seven different campuses, including World Campus, starting April 10 and continuing through April 22. Students will get the chance to hear more about each of the participating campuses, including from current students who have already successfully changed campuses. These “virtual campus visits” will introduce attendees to the people, resources, services and planning steps that contribute to a successful change of campus. The program is an extension of Link UP, which has been successfully helping students make the transition to the University Park campus for over a decade.

Bernard Huggins, assistant director for transition programs in Student Orientation and Transition Programs, said the events can help students ease their worries about changing campuses and give them opportunities to ask questions.

“We know students may have a lot of questions and concerns when they consider a change of campus,” Huggins said. “We want to make these transitions go as smoothly as possible, and we hope these sessions will make students feel informed, supported and confident in their choices.”

The first event on Saturday, April 10, will feature speakers and information on the University Park campus. Students can sign up for one of two different time slots, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. and noon–4 p.m.

Another six campuses will offer Link Penn State events in April. More information and links to registration for all events can be found here.

Melissa Baker, coordinator for student services at Penn State Lehigh Valley, said programs such as Link Penn State give students the advantage of finding out which campuses are the right fit for them.

“Link Penn State allows students to learn about all the unique and special opportunities that each campus has, and decide where they want to compete their degree,” Baker said.
