Local State College leaders to update community on COVID-19 developments

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – With the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations beginning to rise again locally, State College Borough, Penn State and other leaders will provide the Centre Region community with an update on the local status of the COVID-19 pandemic during a livestreamed briefing at 10 a.m. Friday (March 26).

Participating in the briefing are:

  • Eric J. Barron, President, Penn State;

  • Dr. Christopher E. Hester, Chief Clinical Officer, Primary Care Services, Mount Nittany Health;

  • Matthew Ferrari, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics; Huck Career Development Professor and Associate Professor of Biology, Penn State;

  • Ron Filippelli, Mayor, Borough of State College;

  • Bob O’Donnell, Superintendent, State College Area School District; and

  • Vern Squier, President and CEO, Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County.

Each speaker will deliver brief remarks on the latest impacts of the pandemic and mitigation efforts in the State College area.
