UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In 2020, faculty and the academic community at Penn State stepped up in a big way to provide judging for the annual Undergraduate Exhibition for Research, Inquiry and Creative Activity when the event was made virtual due to COVID-19.

“We were thrilled with the response of our faculty last year, who found time in their busy schedules during a pandemic to give undergraduate students the experience of having their work judged by experts In their disciplines,” said Alan Rieck, associate vice president and associate dean for Undergraduate Education.

This year’s exhibition will again be virtual, and judges are needed to score posters, presentations and performances across all academic fields. Judges can specify which academic areas they are interested in judging. Students sign up in one of five broad categories: arts and humanities (including visual arts), engineering, health and life sciences, physical sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.

The 2021 exhibition will take place in the online platform Symposium. Scoring will take place entirely inside the platform.

The sign-up form for judges can be found here. Judges are asked to sign up by April 8. The judging window will be open from noon on April 14, to 5 p.m. on April 16. After then, entries will not be available for viewing.

Special requests for alternative media for individual entries can be directed to undergrad@psu.edu.

The Undergraduate Exhibition is coordinated by Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
