Eight will receive Distinguished Alumni Awards in 2021

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Eight Penn State alumni selected by the Penn State Board of Trustees will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, which is the University's highest honor presented to its alumni. The following individuals have been officially notified of their selection by the board and are invited to accept the award from the University in 2021.

  • Lisa S. Baird, commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League. She earned her bachelor of arts in English from the College of the Liberal Arts in 1982 and her MBA from the Smeal College of Business in 1984.
  • Carl T. Berquist is retired executive vice president and chief financial officer of Marriott International Inc. He earned his bachelor of science in accounting from the Smeal College of Business in 1974.
  • Dr. Cedric X. Bryant, president and chief science officer of the American Council on Exercise. He earned his master of science in physical education in 1984 and his doctorate in physiology in 1989 from interdisciplinary fields/College of Health and Human Development.
  • David A. Donohue, founder and president of International Human Resources Development Corporation. He earned his doctorate in petroleum and natural gas engineering from the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences in 1963.
  • Dr. Louis A. Ivey is a surgeon with Louis A. Ivey M.D. and Associates. He earned his bachelor's degree in arts and letters from the College of the Liberal Arts in 1953.
  • Keith E. Masser, chief executive officer of Sterman Masser Inc., owner of Fresh Solutions Farms LLC, and chairman of Keystone Potato Products LLC. He earned his bachelor of science in agricultural engineering from the College of Engineering in 1973.
  • Charlotte B. McLaughlin, president and CEO of PNC Financial Services. She earned her bachelor of science in accounting from the Smeal College of Business in 1975.
  • Brian T. Olsavsky, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Amazon.com, Inc. He earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering in 1985.
