UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Student Farm Club at Penn State will be hosting a panel titled “Strengthening the Corps: Advancing food system sustainability through Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and FoodCorps," from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mar. 4. All students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend.

The panel will consist of Student Farm Club alumni who have gone on to do agriculture-related service after graduation: Jess Chou, a 2020 graduate who currently serves in the FoodCorps program; Emily Pia, who graduated in 2016 and went on to serve in the Peace Corps in Botswana, and Katrina Weakland, who served in AmeriCorps for two years.

The panelists will discuss the strengths and skills that prepared them for their terms of service, as well as the experiences and abilities that they gained as a result of their work. The discussion will primarily focus on the food and agricultural sector and how the panelists’ work addressed problems within the food system.

Those who are looking for first-hand insight into the service corps or are considering becoming volunteers will benefit from attending this event.

The "Strengthening the Corps" panel will be held via Zoom; register here. Questions regarding the event can be directed to Meg Mitchell at mpm5885@psu.edu
