Carlomagno Panlilio, assistant professor of education in the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education (EPCSE), along with colleagues Catherine Corr, assistant professor of special education at College of Education at Illinois, and Shanta Dube, associate professor of epidemiology at Georgia State University School of Public Health, are planning to guest edit a special issue, “Child Abuse & Neglect: Special Issue on Learning in the Context of Adversity,” for the Journal of Child Abuse & Neglect. The guest editors are seeking theoretical and empirical manuscripts that identify and test learning-related processes drawn from an interdisciplinary perspective. These topics include, but are not limited to, the role of stress physiology, self-regulation and impact on self-regulated learning strategies; expressive and receptive language development and early reading problems such as phonemic awareness and later reading comprehension; behavior problems, school engagement and school connectedness; and achievement motivation and graduation rates.

The submission deadline is Aug. 31. For questions, contact Panlilio at panlilio@psu.edu.

If you have an announcement you would like to share with the College of Education, send it via email to edrelations@psu.edu. Submissions must include a contact name and telephone number so that Connections can verify the information.
