Penn State announces 16 Fulbright Student semi-finalists for 2021-22 award year

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State will have 16 students representing the University during the final round of selections for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program’s 2021-22 award year. Final decisions for the 2021-22 award year will be announced later in the spring semester.

The following are Penn State’s semi-finalists for the study and research program in the 2021-22 award cycle, their program of study and college at Penn State and their country of study:

  • Cassidy Prince, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, Eberly College of Science, Switzerland
  • Mason Buchanan, physics, mathematics, Eberly College of Science, Belgium
  • Kaitlin Fischer, international agriculture and development, rural sociology, College of Agricultural Sciences, Ghana
  • Ruchi Patel, human dimensions of natural resources and the environment, geography, College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, El Salvador
  • Gabriela Brogan, international politics, security and risk analysis, College of the Liberal Arts, Ireland

Applicants for English Teaching Assistant Awards also Identify a country where they will be placed In the classrooms to provide assistance to local English teachers.

The following are semi-finalists for the English Teaching Assistant award, their program and college of study at Penn State and their country of study:

  • Erin Brown, communication arts and sciences, women’s studies, College of the Liberal Arts, Kosovo
  • Caitlin Dillon, studio art, communications, global and international studies, College of Arts and Architecture and Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, Malaysia
  • Elizabeth Druschel, biology, ecology, Eberly College of Science, Malaysia
  • Tatiana Klett, industrial engineering, African American studies, College of Engineering, Croatia
  • Sarah Losco, secondary education, English, world literature, College of Education and College of the Liberal Arts, Spain
  • Abigail Slate, global and international studies, German, linguistics, College of the Liberal Arts, Nepal
  • Amanda Talbot, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, College of the Liberal Arts, Paraguay

Applications for the 2022-23 Fulbright U.S. Student Program will open mid-April for Penn State students at any campus or recent University graduates. Those interested in applying for 2022-23 can find more information here.
