Students, recent graduates: Prep for 2022-23 Fulbright U.S. Student award cycle

February 26, 2021

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students and recent University graduates: It's time to start planning to apply for the 2022-23 Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

Operated through the U.S. Department of State, the international exchange program offers one-year grants to study, conduct research or serve as an English teaching assistant in more than 160 countries worldwide. Applicants include recent graduates and graduating seniors, master’s and doctoral candidates, and people with fewer than five years of professional experience. Study/research awards and English Teaching Assistant awards both are available.

Applicants for study/research awards identify a country and design their own projects, typically under the direction of advisers at foreign universities and colleges, comprised of research, graduate study or both.

Students must be U.S. citizens and be prepared to fill language requirements based on the desired country and type of Fulbright grant.

The Fulbright applications open mid-April. To be included in the campus interview process, you must first notify the office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring (URFM) at urfm@psu.edu of your plans to apply and participate in the campus process. Aug. 13 is the last date to notify URFM of the intention to apply by submitting the pre-application.

Detailed information on application materials — and deadlines — can be found at urfm.psu.edu.
