UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For the third straight year, Penn State THON and the Penn State Alumni Association will partner for the Pep Rally during THON Weekend.
One of the most highly anticipated events every year for THON Weekend, the Pep Rally includes Penn State Varsity student athletes who compete against each other with fun and exciting dance routines.
The 2019 Pep Rally White Out was met with surprise to all of the spectators in the Bryce Jordan Center during the Pep Rally event where the Penn State Alumni Association distributed 12,000 white shirts to those in attendance.
The 2020 Pep Rally was another White Out and another success, with shirts once again distributed across the Bryce Jordan Center and a special gold “150 Zone” to celebrate the Alumni Association’s 150th anniversary in 2020.
This year’s THON Weekend will be taking place remotely for the safety of all participants, but the Pep Rally presented by the Alumni Association still figures to be one of the more exciting aspects of the weekend.
“No one rallies the pep better than when THON and the Penn State Alumni Association partner for the THON Weekend Pep Rally. We are excited and proud to sponsor Pep Rally 2021 as a virtual reminder that THON doesn’t end with graduation; we need to persist in the fight to end childhood cancer," said Paul J. Clifford, CEO of the Penn State Alumni Association and University alumnus.
While there won’t be an in-person White Out at the BJC, the Alumni Association is still helping bring that White Out energy to the homes of this year’s THON Weekend dancers. Each dancer will be receiving a special White Out t-shirt to wear for the Saturday Pep Rally courtesy of the Alumni Association and Penn State THON.
THON Weekend 2021 will culminate in a livestream from 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb.10, until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21. The stream will be static from midnight to 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, aligning with Dancer breaks.
Alumni and Penn Staters across the world can tune into the THON livestream at THON.org/livestream to show their support for THON and this year’s amazing group of THON Weekend dancers, with the Pep Rally taking place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20.
