Andrew “Drew” Nichols, who earned his doctorate from the Higher Education program in 2008, has died. He was senior director of higher education research and data analytics at The Education Trust, an education nonprofit. While at Penn State, Nichols served as the president of the Higher Education Student Association. After graduation, he worked at the Maryland Higher Education Commission and the Pell Institute for the Study of Opportunity in Higher Education. His last research project, Segregation Forever, speaks to his dedication to the most underserved students. Nichols was a fierce advocate for equity and justice and is remembered fondly by those who knew him. Read his obituary here.
