Accenture's KC McClure named to Penn State Smeal Board of Visitors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Dean Charles H. Whiteman recently appointed Penn State Smeal College of Business alumna KC McClure, chief financial officer at Accenture, to the Smeal Board of Visitors.

Board members offer advice to the dean and other Smeal administrators based on their professional experience and knowledge of the latest issues and trends facing the business community.

Whiteman said that McClure’s expertise will play an important role in helping Smeal prepare to educate students for the challenges and opportunities of the future of work.

“KC has built her career over 30 years at a Fortune Global 500 company. I am looking forward to the ideas she’ll bring to the table to help Smeal build programs that prepare our graduates to be successful not just when they enter the workplace but throughout their careers.” he said.

McClure earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Penn State in 1987 and joined Accenture the following year.

In her more than 30-year career at Accenture, she has held a variety of finance leadership roles. She was named managing director in 2001 and was later named finance director for the Communications, Media & Technology and Health and Public Service groups. From 2010 to 2016, she was head of investor relations.

Prior to her appointment as chief financial officer in 2019, she was senior managing director, Business and Commercial Finance. She also represented finance on Accenture’s Operations Council.

In 2020, KC was recognized as the No. 1 IT Services CFO in Institutional Investor’s annual survey of the sector’s equity analysts and institutional investors.

In addition to her role with the Board of Visitors, she also serves on the Accounting External Advisory Board for the Smeal College of Business.

McClure said it was an honor to be invited to join the Board of Visitors.

“The opportunity to work with these highly-accomplished board members and give back to the University — using business acumen and critical thinking that started right here at Smeal — is especially meaningful,” she said. “I hope sharing insights and experience from my own work can contribute to building an ever-stronger Smeal College of Business for our students.”

McClure attended her first board meeting, which was held virtually, last week.
