UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State staff from across all campus locations are encouraged to consider applying for membership in the University Staff Advisory Council (USAC) for the 2021-22 academic year. Applications are due by March 31 and a letter of supervisor support should be included. Interested staff, as well as supervisors looking for leadership opportunities to suggest to their teams, should review the application materials and online submission form found on the Penn State Human Resources USAC website.
Membership responsibilities
Along with representing the staff interests, evaluating new resources and providing feedback to University leadership, appointed USAC members have voting responsibilities and serve a three-year term, beginning on August 1. Monthly council meetings are approximately two hours, typically occur during normal University hours and are considered University business. USAC members also serve on at least one sub-committee within the larger council to focus on specific goals and tasks.
About the University Staff Advisory Council
USAC—the voice for Penn State staff—consists of dedicated staff who act in an advisory capacity to the central administration; explore issues, policies and practices that impact staff; suggest revisions to policies and new policy initiatives; and advocate for staff welfare and development. USAC serves the president and his administration through the vice president of human resources and accepts new members annually.
