UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State community is invited to attend One Penn State 2025: Realizing Transformation Symposium, a virtual symposium on the progress of the One Penn State 2025 initiative.

A signature initiative of Penn state’s strategic plan, One Penn State 2025 will guide the implementation of seamless online access to curricula and processes across all of Penn State.

“This event will highlight the outstanding work already being done by Penn Staters to fulfill our vision for One Penn State 2025, and we hope to inspire new ideas and collaborations that will propel us forward to realize our goal of transforming education and becoming a 24/7/365, diverse, equitable and inclusive university,” said Nick Jones, executive vice president and provost.

The goals of the symposium are to share the ongoing work of the One Penn State 2025 teams with the University at large, celebrate the successful implementation of innovative pilot projects already underway, invite members of the University community to join in the effort, and inspire new ideas and collaborative projects.

Presenting at the half-day, virtual event on Feb. 10 will be members of the five teams working to develop and implement the guiding principles of Penn State 2025. The symposium will begin at 8:30 a.m. with remarks from Nick Jones, executive vice president and provost. Following Jones’ remarks will be a general presentation by the One Penn State 2025 guiding principle teams, followed by focus sessions beginning at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. Focus session presentations will follow a variety of formats, including panel discussions and lightning rounds. Sessions will cover different topics, including engaging learners throughout their lifetime, faculty communities, creating streamlined student business processes, and data-driven decision-making, among others. The symposium website will continue to be updated with session details as they are available. Closing remarks are scheduled for 12:05 p.m.

All sessions will be delivered via Zoom. Sessions will be recorded and available to view after the event.

One Penn State 2025 builds on Penn State’s strong traditions of working as one university to provide world-class education, with the vision of becoming a more integrated, flexible and responsive institution. One Penn State 2025 represents a fluid, personalized and collaborative environment that enables students, faculty and staff to achieve their goals regardless of their location in the world.

Its five guiding principles are:

1. Provide a seamless student experience.

2. Achieve curricular coherence.

3. Design relevant and responsive programs.

4. Engage learners throughout their lifetimes.

5. Achieve the highest level of efficiency of University resources.

Teams representing each guiding principle are composed of nearly 85 faculty, advisers, academic administrators, executives and academic, business and IT professionals from across Penn State. Each team also includes student representatives. The cross-functional work teams were announced in January 2020 as the next step in working toward achieving the goals of One Penn State 2025.
