College of Health and Human Development names fall student marshal

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Annelise Fickinger, daughter of Deirdre and Peter Fickinger of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, will serve as the college marshal for the Penn State College of Health and Human Development at the Dec. 19, 2020, virtual commencement ceremony.

Fickinger will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in communication sciences and disorders. She will be escorted by Carol Miller, professor of communication sciences and disorders and professor-in-charge of the graduate program.

During her time at Penn State, Fickinger worked as a research assistant in the Child Language Development Laboratory, which focuses on typical and atypical language development in children and adults. She served as the alumni relations captain for Penn State Homecoming 2018 and was a member of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) operations and hospitality committees. She was also a member of the College of Health and Human Development Women’s Leadership Initiative and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, as well as a team leader for Penn State’s Fresh Start Day of Service in 2018. Fickinger was named to the Dean’s List every semester and was awarded the Evan Pugh Junior Award in 2020.

Fickinger is a 2017 graduate of Avon Grove High School in West Grove, Pennsylvania.

Following graduation, she will attend graduate school for speech-language pathology next fall.
