OB/GYN resident Chase honored for exceptional teaching

Dr. Tess Chase, an obstetrics/gynecology resident at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, was honored in November 2020 as part of the Exceptional Moments in Teaching program of Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine.

A current student wrote, “Dr. Chase served as a role model for leadership, education and good patient care on my rotation. She set clear expectations and assigned specific roles for junior members of the team, which allowed me as a medical student to take ownership for my responsibilities. She helped the entire team prepare by reviewing relevant anatomy before surgeries. On our less busy clinical days, she encouraged each of us to learn about a topic and share it with the group. She went above and beyond to make sure patients’ needs were met.”

Chase graduated from The University of South Florida in 2012 and The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 2017. She joined the Penn State family later that year as a resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She plans to pursue an OB/GYN practice after graduation. In her spare time, Chase enjoys playing volleyball.
