WYOMISSING, Pa. — In celebration of students adhering to the safety measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, Penn State Berks is holding a “Mask Up or Pack Up” celebration for the campus community on Wednesday, October 28, during the dinner meal beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Tully’s Café.
According to Linda McDuff, assistant director of housing and food services at Penn State Berks, the event will feature a “crazy food pace changer.” McDuff explains, “Pace changers are small special food events that we have periodically throughout the semester for variety. The crazy food day menu includes bacon wrapped mozzarella sticks, fiery hot nacho encrusted Nashville chicken, Kool-Aid pickles and brookie dessert pizza.” All attendees will be treated to a free “freakshake,” a mega milkshake loaded with sweets.
Housing and Food Services will also hold a mask contest, for students only. Masks will be judged and the winner will have the opportunity to put his or her photo on a cardboard cut-out in Beaver Stadium at University Park campus. Judging will take place around 5:30 p.m. and the winner will be announced at 6 p.m.
Penn State launched an integrated “Mask Up or Pack Up” campaign to remind students, faculty and staff at all campuses of the importance of doing their part to limit the spread of COVID-19. As students returned for the fall semester, the campaign messaging was shared broadly throughout campus and on social media.
