Reichwein recognized for Exceptional Moments in Teaching

Dr. Raymond Reichwein, a board-certified neurologist and professor of neurology at Penn State College of Medicine, is featured for October in the “Exceptional Moments in Teaching” program.

“Dr. Reichwein provided one of the richest clinical education experiences in all of medical school,” the student wrote. “I have never had an attending teach with as much passion and excitement as Dr. Reichwein. His extensive knowledge of stroke and stroke management was extremely impressive, and the vigor and manner with which he shared this knowledge empowered me greatly as a learner. He treated students no differently than the residents, which motivated us to work even harder and made us feel that the patient presentations we spent hours working on actually made a difference in patient care. In addition, Dr. Reichwein is not only kind and mindful of his learners, he also has an exemplary bedside manner, which is just one of the many ways he leads by example. Penn State College of Medicine is truly lucky to have an attending with the level of notoriety he possesses who teaches just as passionately as he practices medicine and conducts research.”

Reichwein is the Comprehensive Stroke Center co-director, as well as Telehealth/Telestroke Program medical director. He is also Penn State Hershey Rehabilitation Hospital’s Stroke Program director. He has been a stroke neurologist for more than 20 years and provides care for patients across the continuum of stroke care (prevention, acute care, and recovery/rehabilitation).
