UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With the onset of colder weather, Penn State’s walk-up COVID-19 testing location at University Park is moving from the HUB Parking Deck to the main concourse of Pegula Ice Arena beginning Friday, Oct. 9. Individuals who visit Pegula Ice Arena for walk-up testing must enter through Gate A – the main entry at the corner of Curtin Road and University Drive.
Students at University Park who are asymptomatic of COVID-19 but want to be tested because of possible virus exposure or other reasons may access the Pegula walk-up testing site from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Registration is not required, but students will need to bring their Penn State ID and smartphone and refrain from eating, drinking, chewing or smoking 30 minutes before arriving for their tests. Testing is free.
Students who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not visit the walk-up site and instead seek testing at University Health Services by scheduling an appointment online through myUHS or by calling UHS at 814-863-0774. Penn State also is offering asymptomatic on-demand COVID-19 testing for University Park employees who are listed in the University’s Return to Work database. The Pegula testing center is open for employees only from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, or employees may walk up at any time during the center’s normal operating hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Employees who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 will not be tested at the walk-up testing site. Any employee who feels sick with COVID-19-like symptoms should stay home and call their health care provider to arrange for further evaluation.
This walk-up testing is voluntary and does not replace mandatory surveillance testing for either students or employees.
Employees should work with their supervisor to request time to obtain walk-up COVID-19 testing. Registration is not required, but employees who wish to be tested must bring identification and a smartphone and refrain from eating, drinking, chewing or smoking 30 minutes before arriving for their tests. The walk-up testing is free for employees.
Exterior and interior signage will direct students and employees to enter via Gate A to access the walk-up testing site inside the arena. Access to the arena is restricted to the testing area, and individuals will not be permitted in other areas of the facility.
