Virtual 5K to benefit Blue Band Legacy Fund

Blue Band alumni may not be able to return to Penn State for Homecoming this year, but they can connect virtually by participating in the Alumni Blue Band Association’s (ABBA) Virtual 5K, Oct. 17-24. The event benefits the Blue Band Legacy Fund, which helps to secure the long-term financial needs of the Blue Band and is typically supported in part by ABBA’s in-person Homecoming activities.

The event, open to the public, takes place over the course of a week to allow participants to complete the 5K on their own schedule. The $35 donation includes an event T-shirt and an invitation to an event-only Facebook group where participants can connect (or reconnect) with one another. For an additional $10, participants may also purchase a Blue Band mask.

Registration for the Virtual 5K is open through Sept. 27 on the Alumni Blue Band website. Participants will receive their Facebook information soon after registration closes, and event packets will be mailed Oct. 12. For more information, contact Julia Stack, 814-769-1936 or juliastack@gmail.com.
