Abe Harpster elected to Board of Trustees executive committee

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Board of Trustees elected Abe Harpster as an at-large member to its executive committee on Sept. 18.

Harpster is a 1994 alumnus of the College of Agricultural Sciences and co-owner of Evergreen Farms, Inc., which operates the largest dairy farm in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the Board of Trustees by delegates from agricultural societies effective July 2013. He also has previously held membership offices in agricultural associations at the local, state and national levels and serves on several agricultural charitable boards and foundations.

The election of Harpster to the executive committee reflects the recommendations of the Committee on Governance and Long-Range Planning, announced Sept. 17.

The executive committee, under the direction of and subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, is able to transact all necessary business that may arise in the intervals between the regular meetings of the board.
