Award-winning video editor featured next in Journalism Speakers Forum

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Two-time Emmy Award-winning video editor and producer Eric Maierson, whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post and Time magazine, will be the second speaker in the Journalism Speakers Forum, which features weekly speakers during the fall semester at Penn State.

Maierson’s presentation — titled “Storytelling in an Interrupted World” — will continue the series at 7 p.m. Sept. 15, via Zoom. The series of special guest presentations was coordinated by Will Yurman, the Norman Eberly Professor of Practice in Journalism in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.

For 11 years Maierson was the senior producer at MediaStorm, a documentary production company in Brooklyn, New York. Maierson developed and produced the Peabody Award–winning television show "A Walk in Your Shoes" for Nickelodeon and served as head writer for VH1’s hit series "Where Are They Now?"

His short films have played at film festivals across the country, and his prose has appeared in Playboy, McSweeney’s and The New Yorker. He is also the writer and director of the critically acclaimed theatrical play Reprise.

Originally from Houston, Maierson earned his master of fine arts in creative writing at Emerson College, as well as a bachelor of science in communications from Ithaca College.
