UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — First-year students in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications this fall have an additional, exclusive resource for acclimation and success at Penn State: top-notch upperclassmen.

Students previously selected as Bellisario College Fellows — a group which includes just a couple of students from each major, selected based on merit and campus involvement — will lead a series of peer-to-peer sessions for first-year students every other week during the semester.

The series begins Sept. 1 with a session focused on getting involved, a discussion about communications clubs and organizations. The series also provides a complement to first-year seminar courses in the Bellisario College.

Planned topics for subsequent sessions from immediate to long-term concerns for students beginning their journey at the University. Those topics include tips for success, great spots on campus, internships, and places to live on campus and in State College.

Administrators reached out to the Bellisario College Fellows and empowered them to create and build the peer-to-peer program. Student leaders for the series represent each of the majors in the Bellisario College.
