Employee guidance surrounding Labor Day holiday 2020

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In order to support Penn State students who will be attending classes on Labor Day — Monday, Sept. 7 — some University employees may be required to work on the holiday.

Employees who must work on this holiday will be eligible for compensation and compensatory time, as outlined in the “Holidays” section of Policy HR34 or the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Employees required to work on this holiday should be limited to those that are truly necessary, and units must be aware of the financial impact that will be created by requiring employees to work. If not needed to work, employees should observe the Labor Day holiday, as usual.

Any questions per this initiative can be made to the HR Services team at 814-865-1473.
