DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton campus leaders held a town hall on Thursday evening for students and families to provide them with needed information as they prepare to return to campus on Monday, Aug. 24.
With so many changes on campus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa and others wanted to provide students and their parents with the information they needed for a successful start to the academic year, and provide an opportunity to answer any questions or concerns.
The event was held via a webinar format, and attendees were able to register and send in their questions in advance of the event.
"We want to make sure that everyone stays safe," said Wafa, as he advised students to be sure to follow the new, required safety protocols in place, which include wearing face masks that cover the nose and mouth, practicing social distancing, and frequently washing their hands and using the hand-sanitizing stations as needed.
Participants were also briefed on changes to campus facilities and services, such as no self-serve food stations in the cafeteria, and expanded wi-fi zones in parking lots to allow students to use their cars for socially distanced studying and remote classes.
Brad Kovaleski, director of student services and engagement, also reviewed the new student compact agreement and new COVID-19 testing policies and procedures.
