Authorities investigating bomb threat; Hostetter Services Building evacuated

UPDATE (12:10 p.m.): Authorities have completed the search at Hostetter Services Building on the University Park campus following a bomb threat this morning (Aug. 20) and have identified no issues. Employees have returned to the facility. Penn State University Police will continue to work with local, state and federal agencies to explore this matter in more depth. University Police and Public Safety asks for everyone’s cooperation while authorities continue to investigate this matter.  

 

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — At around 9:45 a.m. today (Aug. 20) University Police and Public Safety received a credible bomb threat via a call to the University Park police dispatch center, which indicated that suspicious packages were delivered to an unknown location. Out of an abundance of caution, the Hostetter Services Building on Services Road, which houses a campus mail center, has been evacuated and police are investigating the threat and on scene with explosive detection canines. Local, state and federal agencies are assisting. The public is urged to avoid the area. More information will be released as it become available through the police investigation.
