Altoona senior awarded scholarship by railroad historical society

ALTOONA, Pa. — Michael Begany, a Penn State Altoona rail transportation engineering major, has been awarded a scholarship by the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society. This scholarship is granted to a university student studying aspects of railroad history and operations.

Begany, a senior, plans to become a railroad operations manager.

Founded in 1921, the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society is North America’s oldest organization focusing on railroad history. Its purpose is to promote research, writing and public knowledge about all aspects of railroading.
