Information sessions scheduled for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship program

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to attend the virtual events

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Undergraduate and graduate students at Penn State are invited to attend any of the four virtual events covering the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) The first session is scheduled for Aug. 25.

Registration is required for the sessions and details are available at ufo.psu.edu. The events are co-sponsored by the College of Engineering and the Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards Administration in the Graduate School.

Below is a list of the fall events and their Zoom room registration links.

The NSF GRFP supports graduate students pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in GRFP-supported fields at U.S. institutions. The five-year fellowship funds up to three years of graduate study with an annual stipend of $34,000. It also covers tuition and fees.

According to the official website, to be eligible for the NSF GRFP, applicants must:

  • be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident
  • intend to pursue a research-based master’s or doctoral program in a GRFP-supported field
  • be enrolled in an eligible program at an accredited U.S. graduate institution, with a U.S. campus, by the fall following selection
  • be at an early stage in your graduate career

Graduate students are limited to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in the first year or in the second year of graduate school. For eligibility questions, please contact the Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards Administration at gsfellowships@psu.edu.
