UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State will host a webinar to celebrate and introduce the University community to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 31.

Penn State made its debut in the rankings in April, which, according to THE's website, are "the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals." Universities are chosen on the basis of three criteria: research, outreach, and stewardship.

The webinar will include 5 panelists and a moderator:

  • Jennifer Campbell, director of global operations and learning, Global Programs
  • Mary Easterling, associate director of analysis and assessment, Sustainability Institute
  • Michelle Hutnik, director of research analytics and communications, Office of the Senior Vice President for Research
  • Karen O’Brien, director of strategic analysis and decision support, Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research
  • Duncan Ross, chief data officer, Times Higher Education
  • Moderator: William Shuey, assistant director for sponsored relations, Global Programs

The webinar will cover what the Impact rankings are; how the University can build awareness and buy-in; who the key campus stakeholders are; insights from Penn State’s debut on the ranking; and key takeaways from the data. Participants can join the webinar at this link.

“For the international audience, global rankings like the Times Higher Education Impact rankings are becoming the barometer of the competitive storm ahead,” said Campbell. “This ranking deals with how we take our valued research and put it into practice for the betterment of the planet. We’re excited to share with the University community.”
