LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus has postponed the sixth-annual Concert on the Lawn to 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first Concert on the Lawn was held in 2015 to celebrate the campus’ 50th anniversary. Today, the family-friendly event has become a highly anticipated free activity in the region to mark the end of summer, drawing up to 2,500 people. Attendees bring blankets and chairs — and leave the alcohol at home — to enjoy the beautiful, 100-acre campus in full bloom.

The Concert on the Lawn has featured live tribute bands, including The Cast of Beatlemania; On the Border, the Ultimate Eagles Tribute; Beginnings, the Ultimate Tribute to Chicago; The Pettybreakers; and TUSK, the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Experience. The event includes concessions, inflatable activities for children, and a fireworks show to close the evening. An alumni barbecue reunion precedes the performance.

“The campus is extremely grateful to Joe Hardy, who established an endowment for the arts to bring world class entertainment and speakers to Penn State Fayette,” said Lori Omatick, director of development and chair of the Concert on the Lawn planning committee. “Without this generous support, we would not be able to offer this wonderful evening of great music and fun for the local community.”

Simply Queen, which was slated to perform on campus in August, will play at next year’s event on Aug. 28, 2021. According to the band, “Simply Queen faithfully recreates the grand scope of Queen's live shows, both musically and visually, capturing the experience that filled stadiums around the world.”
