— The newly renamed Office for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships Mentoring (formerly the University Fellowships Office) is seeking applications for its inaugural Undergraduate Research Ambassadors program in Fall 2020. The goal of the program is to help represent research and creative activity in various multi-disciplinary academic fields throughout the Penn State community, from humanities and social sciences to business to visual and performing arts to STEM. This program is a volunteer opportunity. Ambassadors will help to represent undergraduate research at their home campus to fellow undergraduates, faculty and staff, and alumni.

Eligible applicants are enrolled as a Penn State undergraduate in good academic standing with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0; have participated in undergraduate research for at least two semesters of one full summer; and have interest and ability to share about your research experience at Penn State. Interested students should submit the following application materials to the Office for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring at urfm@psu.edu: cover letter, current resume or CV, unofficial transcript, and one letter of recommendation from a research mentor that speaks to your experience as a researcher and student leader. Mentors can email the office directly at urfm@psu.edu with their letters. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Christy Beck, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education (EPCSE), and supervisor of the Dr. Edwin L. Herr Clinic, will be appearing on a local TV program, “Health Matters,” to speak about mental health on a recurring basis. The first episode featuring Beck will air on Aug. 23 at 12:30 p.m. on ABC23, and 10:35 p.m. on Fox8. She will discuss telemental health in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and will highlight the work the Herr Clinic has done to respond to the needs of Penn State students and the State College community.
