UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will offer two virtual trivia sessions and two webinars to the Penn State community in July.

A full calendar of financial literacy events, including their Zoom links, can be found at financialliteracy.psu.edu.

Virtual trivia events

The next trivia event is slated for 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, July 9. Participants are encouraged to stick around after trivia for a “Finlit Five,” where participants can talk privately with center staff about any financial concerns or questions. More virtual trivia is scheduled for 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

Retirement planning webinar

The next webinar in the center’s series on financial literacy will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, and will focus on retirement planning. The webinar will cover the most common retirement plans, the difference between a traditional IRA and ROTH IRA, how to write your own retirement planning guide, the common mistakes made in retirement planning and how to forecast a retirement budget.

Insurance planning webinar

The Tuesday, July 28, webinar will cover insurance planning. This webinar will show attendees ways to protect themselves, their loved ones and their assets against unexpected events. It will cover the different types of insurance and help attendees understand key terms, how to maintain proper coverage but reduce costs, avoid costly mistakes in insurance planning and how to forecast an insurance budget.

Self-study modules for all webinars are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”
