UNIVERSITY PARK Pa. – University Health Services (UHS), a unit of Student Affairs, now offers telemedicine to provide safe and convenient health care to students, even when not on campus. UHS is committed to continuing to support students during these difficult times, and as part of this commitment, services have been expanded beyond the traditional face-to-face medical visits. Telemedicine is one of the ways to reach out to students, allowing for both phone and video interactions, with the latter being done through Zoom.

Students that would normally have access to UHS providers and services, can still access these providers, with some few exceptions depending upon the state they reside in. Board-certified providers are available and can be easily accessed from a mobile device or computer. Telemedicine providers will diagnose, suggest follow-up care, and can even prescribe medications. Though not all medical concerns are appropriate for telemedicine, a wide array of health symptoms and issues can be evaluated through a telemedicine visit.

“We’re excited to be able to offer telemedicine visits to our students," said Robin Oliver-Veronesi, senior director of UHS. "Please reach out to us with your medical concerns. We are here for you, and we will continue to support our students.”

To see if your medical needs are appropriate for telemedicine, call the appointment line at 814-863-0774. An experienced nurse will be able to help determine how best to use this resource and help set up an appointment. Later this summer, online scheduling for telemedicine will be implemented.
