Penn State researchers provide informed commentary on the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on the mental health of hospitalized patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

 Even with well-established protocols and familiarity, infection isolation protocols may cause significant issues for patients, including decreased interaction times with medical staff, increased depression and anxiety, and increased anger and fear.
