Trustees delay officer elections due to pandemic

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Board of Trustees today (June 9) approved a proposal to delay the election of its officers, originally slated to take place during the board’s meeting in July.

The election of officers will take place when the board can safely meet in person, and will occur no later than Nov. 13. In accordance with the board’s bylaws, incumbent officers will remain in their positions until their successors are elected or appointed.

The cornonavirus had previously caused the April election of agricultural interest trustees to be temporarily deferred.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Board of Trustees has been holding its regularly scheduled meetings via Zoom videoconferencing instead of meeting in person. The board’s next meeting, set for July 16-17, is tentatively scheduled to be conducted via videoconference to conform with current public health guidelines.
