Penn State Executive Programs now offering distance-based, faculty-led learning

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Executive Programs, the executive education provider within the Penn State Smeal College of Business, recently launched distance-based learning offerings aimed at helping businesses and organizations improve their understanding and acumen in supply chain management.

“We have made it our mission to create learning programs that address a variety of goals and offer opportunities to develop at a pace that works for you,” said Steve Tracey, executive director and faculty member at Penn State Executive Programs. “We’re thrilled to launch the next phase in the evolution of our programs that will support all leaders who now, more than ever, must leverage a clear understanding of the end-to-end supply chain.”

Penn State Executive Programs’ high-demand professional development supply chain programs are now available virtually and led by faculty in three separate offerings: the Supply Chain Accelerator Series, the Supply Chain Academy, and Supply Chain Short Courses.

The Supply Chain Accelerator Series is a set of learning paths that are completed via three separate week-long sessions and can be accessed from any device with a web browser. Each week-long session comprises 45-60 minutes of moderated content from Monday through Thursday with a capstone event on Fridays featuring one hour of live instruction from Penn State faculty.

Learning paths, priced at $957 per individual, include topics in logistics, procurement, project management, and supply chain, and are best for individuals and/or teams seeking to develop an understanding of key concepts related to the end-to-end supply chain.

The Supply Chain Academy is a cohort-based program uniquely designed to support organizational teams that are geographically distributed. Solutions are geared toward 20-50 participants from a single organization, which allows for targeted discussions and activities. Organizations may select from more than 20 technical, tactical, and strategic modules to create tailored learning programs to solve challenges specific to each organization.

Supply Chain Short Courses, traditionally delivered on campus in two- or three-day workshops, are now offered via live remote sessions spanning three to four days. Courses can now be delivered using web conference technology and, just like with in-person programs, content can be customized to align with an organization’s security policies.

Live in-depth content is delivered in 90-minute sessions occurring each morning and afternoon for three or four days, depending on the course. Short courses range from $1,600 to $2,400 and are best for individuals and teams requiring a deep understanding of the end-to-end supply chain and how the critical interactions throughout the supply chain journey provide a strategic advantage.

All three virtual offerings leverage expert instruction from Gartner, Inc.’s No. 1-ranked supply chain education provider in the country – the Smeal College of Business. Students may also earn professional certificates by successfully completing at least three tracks or courses.

“When you partner with Penn State, you are connecting with a community of passionate faculty, researchers, and practitioners who are focused on your learning and success,” Tracey said. “We developed programs offered through these delivery methodologies to accelerate your ability to lead the supply chain at your convenience – and to meet our learners wherever they are.”
