HAZLETON, Pa. — A new resource for students to enhance their leadership skills is in the works at Penn State Hazleton.

The Leadership Library, made possible by a $10,000 grant from Barnes and Noble, will be converted from an unused office in the Activities Room in lower Butler TLRC. Construction is set to begin as soon as staff and faculty can return to campus.

The Leadership Library will serve as an interactive multimedia space for students to research leadership-related topics with books, magazines, journals and electronic resources, said Student Services and Engagement Coordinator Rob Knight.

The library, Knight added, will also be equipped with Zoom-compatible hardware and software to allow student leaders to meet remotely with their peers, participate in webinars and host interviews.

“In an effort to provide students with up-to-date information and best practices, the inventory will be routinely updated,” Knight noted. “Moreover, Student Services and Engagement will host programming in the library on a variety of topics salient to life as a leader.”

Programming topics include cultural competency, team management, and effective marketing for clubs and organizations.

A book club formed last fall will run in collaboration with the Leadership Library as well, Knight said.
