HERSHEY, Pa. — The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) honored two Hershey Medical Center doctors for excellence and their contributions in advancing knowledge and patient care.
- Dr. Susan Promes, professor and chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine, received the Hal Jayne Excellence in Education Award.
- Dr. Joshua Davis, a third-year emergency medicine resident, received the Resident Researcher Award.
Promes, a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, earned her medical degree from Penn State and did her residency training at Alameda County Medical Center, Highland General Hospital where she served as chief resident. She is course director for the American College of Emergency Physicians Teaching Fellowship and the inaugural editor-in-chief of Academic Emergency Medicine Education and Training, a journal dedicated to medical education scholarship in emergency medicine.
Davis started his residency at Hershey Medical Center in 2017. He received the 2018 Resident Research Award from the Academy of Emergency Ultrasound. Davis has more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. His residency research project focuses on using point-of-care ultrasound to diagnose dehydration in children.
SAEM is a national professional organization dedicated to improving care of the acutely ill and injured patient by improving research and education.
