AAU presidents, chancellors thank university communities leading COVID-19 fight

Penn State is one of 65 leading research universities that are part of the American Association of Universities, collectively helping to shape and contribute to higher education, science, and innovation.

The following is a statement from the presidents and chancellors of the Association of American Universities expressing their gratitude to all university communities as they lead the fight against COVID-19:

As the presidents and chancellors of America’s leading research universities we are deeply grateful for, and proud of, the physicians, nurses, researchers, scientists, faculty, staff, and students at our institutions. During these challenging times our university communities are healing and comforting those who are ill, searching for cures and treatments, advising policymakers on the immensely consequential decisions they are making, and adapting to an upended world. Together we are helping our fellow Americans in ways large and small.

We also thank our students, parents, alumni, donors, and our fellow Americans for your continued trust in us. Your investment in our institutions is paying dividends as we fight COVID-19 in laboratories and hospitals; teach students in every town, city, and state; and contribute to our local, regional, and national economies.

America’s leading research universities play a unique and powerful role in our nation’s health and well-being. We are proud to be on the same team.
