EarthTalks panel to focus on climate change impacts, mitigation strategies

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Scientists expect future global warming to have severe impacts on human health, agriculture, natural ecosystems and coastal flooding. What can communities do to counteract these effects? James Kasting, Evan Pugh University Professor of Geosciences, will lead a panel discussion on climate change impacts, such as human heat stress and food security, and strategies to avoid or lessen these challenges. Joining Kasting will be Jenni Evans, professor of meteorology and atmospheric science; Chris Forest, professor of climate dynamics; and Klaus Keller, professor of geosciences.

The climate panel is part of the spring 2020 EESI EarthTalks series, "Societal Problems, EESI Science towards Solutions." The series features scientists from Penn State’s Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) and explores the human impacts on the global environment and how to apply this knowledge to decision-making. The series runs every Monday through April 27.

The spring 2020 EESI EarthTalks series is supported by the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute.
