Global Programs to host international student town hall on April 21

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Global Programs will host a virtual town hall for international students at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, to provide updates and answers to students’ most pressing concerns regarding the novel coronavirus pandemic. Students may join the town hall at http://watch.psu.edu/global-townhall/.

“We understand that our international student community has unique issues and concerns, such as maintaining visa status, remote learning access, housing, and academic continuity, during this unprecedented time,” stated Roger Brindley, vice provost for Global Programs. “We, Global Programs and Penn State leadership, are here to help them navigate these challenging times the very best that we can. We are one community, dedicated to your academic success and committed to being your home away from home.”

Joining Brindley for the hour-long event will be:

  • Masume Assaf, director of International Student and Scholar Advising;
  • Jennifer Campbell, director of Global Operations and Learning;
  • Cheryl Fabrizi, assistant vice president for Penn State Housing and Food Services; and
  • moderator Rob Crane, associate vice provost for Global Programs.

International students were invited to submit questions via a survey sent out in recent weeks and are still invited to submit questions at globalquestions@psu.edu until Friday, April 17. All questions will be taken into consideration for coverage during the Town Hall.

The event will be recorded and archived for later viewing.

Current answers to frequently asked international student questions can be found at global.psu.edu/covidintlfaq. For the latest information on Penn State’s response to the outbreak, go to psu.edu/virusinfo/.
