ALTOONA, Pa. — John Eicher, assistant professor of history at Penn State Altoona, recently won a National Endowment for the Humanities summer stipend and an American Council for Learned Societies Project Development grant.
In combination with a one-year "Marie S. Curie Fellowship" from the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies, Eicher will use the funding to continue work on his research project concerning rural and religious interpretations of the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic in Europe.
