Georgene Searfoss, a 1989 graduate of the College of Education with a master of arts in counselor education, wrote a book titled “Longings of the Heart: The Story of Elsie Machle White” that was published by Amazon in December. It is a nonfiction story of a woman born in China to Presbyterian missionaries and educated at Wooster University. During the summer of 1911 and 1912, she visited Endeavor, Pennsylvania, where she met and socialized with students in Penn State’s newly formed School of Forest Resources.
