Ten Penn State entries finish first in regional journalism society competition
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Ten Penn State entries were selected as regional winners in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards Region 1 competition.
Those winners will advance to compete in the national SPJ competition against other regional winners from across the country.
Penn State’s Region 1 winners were:
- "Centre County Report" staff (Best All-Around TV Newscast)
- "Centre County Report in Puerto Rico" staff (Best All-Around TV News Magazine)
- Jillian Ford (TV In-Depth Reporting)
- Brandon Pelter (TV Sports Reporting)
- Will Desautelle (Broadcast Sports Videography)
- Erin Johnson (Broadcast News Videography)
- Allison Rambler (General News Photography)
- James Leavy (Sports Photography)
- Tyler King (Online Sports Reporting)
- Maria Valdisera (Online/Digital Feature Videography)
SPJ’s Region 1 comprises Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, central and eastern Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Top winners in the national competition will then be featured on the Society of Professional Journalists’ website.
