Schindler honored with 2020 Support Staff Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Kim Schindler, administrative support assistant for the Office of Sexual Misconduct Prevention & Response (OSMPR), has been honored with the 2020 Support Staff Award.

The award recognizes the overall high-quality performance of a full-time member of the support staff with at least five years of active service in fulfilling the mission of the University and of his or her college or administrative unit. It also recognizes dedicated focus to customer service, commitment to quality improvement, outstanding skills and abilities, teamwork and professionalism.

After a decades-long career in Residence Life, Schindler was tasked in 2016 with helping to create the newly formed OSMPR. There, she hired five staff members, created new processes and procedures and transitioned to new physical space while responding to hundreds of sensitive issues.

“In her pivotal role with the office, Kim witnessed multiple transitions and challenges,” a nominator said. “Through all the changes, Kim’s commitment to the mission of the office and to serving students never wavered.”

Nominators said Schindler handled the stress of the new position, creating the effective office that exists today. She’s also credited with creating an effective case-file system with a homegrown database.
